Episode Description:
Worried you can’t take a vacation if you have a membership? Sandra explains how you can take days off with a bit of planning…because you don’t have to be glued to your desk to have a successful membership!
Show notes
“You can still have a lot of freedom, and a lot of luxury, and a lot of leisure time with a membership. Remember, this is why we created a membership with recurring revenue, to have more time off and to just leverage what it is that we do.”
Everyone needs a vacation, but taking time off might seem daunting when you have a membership. Don’t worry! You don’t have to be glued to your desk to have a successful membership.
When you have a membership, you have a certain amount of time where your members have access to you, whether there’s a monthly Q&A, or something else more frequently. When you’re planning out your membership (listen to the previous episode to learn how) you’ll want to pay attention to when you’re planning to take your vacation days. You’ll also want to pay attention to holidays, because you don’t want to book something when most of your members are off.
On these dates, you’ll want to communicate that your event or Q&A will be a week early. Or, if you can, you can have someone else take care of that Q&A for you. Think of which of your team members your community would love to hear from. If there’s no one on your team—or you don’t have a team—consider inviting a guest speaker. The right guest speaker can even help with member retention, especially if they can speak on topics that you’re not an expert in.
When you’re preparing to take time off, it’s a good idea to batch create your content ahead of time, because you don’t want to come back from vacation and have to rush to create content.
Make sure that you tell your members ahead of time if something is going to change. This helps to set expectations. If you have a small, higher paid group, you can offer to respond through Facebook Messenger, where you don’t necessarily have to be on a schedule.
Remember, even with a membership you can still have a lot of freedom! All it takes is a little planning.
